As you will see from the attached graphic based on research from Searchmetrics, Google is weighting certain web ‘signals’ when it comes to how it treats websites in search. Basically having Google + ‘likes’ for your site is very important to Google.
Why? In an article on the Capterra website, Caroline Malamut says that “While Google already uses social signals from other sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, Google+ provides data that Google can actually trust. Other social sites don’t give access to the majority of their data for Google to use when providing search results; Google+ fixes that problem, which means it has more of an impact on what comes up in search. Google places more trust in the data it collects, meaning that its search results will be strongly influenced by the data it collects in its own social platform.”
This means that if you want to get a relatively easy, trustworthy and a potentially cost-free boost in search for your website, make sure you install the G+ button and link back to your Google + business page. Then ask your customers to go online and ‘like’ your pages by clicking the G+ button.
