Reputation management and marketing is very important if your business is going to prosper in today’s web-driven buying. As more shoppers move online, they are looking for reviews about your business from your customers. If these reviews are bad, poor or non-existent, it reflects negatively on you and will cost you sales. Watch the video below to learn more.
In an article in Promotion World, Blake Jonathan Boldt discusses the part that Google plays in online reputation management.
Of particular significance is the following paragraph: ” Google Plus Business Pages also rank remarkably well when used to full effect. Online reputation management involves removing negative reviews and promoting more positive mentions. It’s been a standard practice in online reputation management to use blogs, websites, directories, domains and other profiles that rank well in Google. As Google Plus becomes further ingrained in the overall Google experience, posting relevant and informational content to Google Plus will have significant implications to your online reputation. Google will continue to place an emphasis on Google Plus Business Pages and their posts in search results.”
Mr. Boldt also suggests using Google alerts — a free service — to notify a business when mention of their name or particular keywords chosen to be tracked are mentioned on the web.
This is helpful advice, however, it should be noted that Google alerts will not pick up all comments on a business. For example, if a comment is made on the business listing in a directory like Yelp, and no mention of the business name is made in the comment, Google alerts will not pick it up. There are other services available that fix this oversight.
So the key is constantly building your business’s online reputation and managing and marketing it to keep and gain more customers.
