Developing Your Five-Star Reputation
We find that using our professionally designed post cards is an excellent way to encourage our clients’ customers to give them a review. These can be filled in and mailed back by the customer or given out after an appointment or purchase for immediate use. If they are unwilling to fill in the card, there may be an issue that needs to be dealt with — one that can be handled immediately to everyone’s benefit.
Another approach is to use special business cards. This gives staff another method of soliciting five-star reviews.
We also create email templates for our clients to use. Email is an excellent way to ask for a review, but its design is key when it comes to motivating people to not only read the email, but to take action. We have other strategies, but these are several that can be implemented in the business immediately.
Eliminate Bad Reviews
It’s obvious that one of our goals should be to eliminate or reduce the number of so-so or negative reviews. This can be achieved through better service to the customer. To this end, we set up a dedicated training center where staff can take an online course on customer service and reputation marketing. A quiz at the end helps them to check that they understand the content.
The reduction or elimination of bad reviews can also be achieved by funneling reviews to a page where they can be vetted before they are published. This is done with the customer’s full permission and cooperation. The purpose is to catch bad reviews and correct problems with customers before they leave a bad review online. It also allows the business to harvest the best reviews for publication on the business website and social media outlets.
To do all this, we create a private review page so that as many reviews as possible are funneled into one area. When we receive them, we post the great reviews online, and email you the poor reviews to respond to. In this way, your reputation is enhanced. You get more five-star reviews online and have the opportunity to proactively reach out to a customer who may be disenchanted. It’s certainly possible that you can turn that customer into a happy one, and benefit by having another great review.
